Our pick of the best gifts for cyclists this Christmas

Hats, tools, wheels. Spoon Customs Christmas gifts for cyclists

Hats, tools, wheels. Spoon Customs Christmas gifts for cyclists

We think junior staff writers at magazines everywhere must love Christmas. They get to trawl through the client book and work out which advertisers have been naughty or nice to see who’s going to make it on to this years ‘Christmas gifts for cyclists’ lists.

We don’t need to play those politics though and we’re not shy of telling people what we think of all the lovely kit that comes through our workshop. Especially when we’re excited about it.

Our list is stuff we’d buy. To make it even easier, we’ve listed it on our website to make it easy for us to get it to you.

But we’re just trying to sell you stuff right? Well, yes of course, but as well as keeping me, Sam, Luke, David and Jen in these jobs that we love, we’re also going to raise some cash for charity. We’re giving 10% from all web sales received before Christmas Eve, to Crisis at Christmas. On here, and Wyndymilla.com and www.guncontrolpaint.com

So, here goes…our pick for some Christmas gifts that will genuinely make that cyclist in your life jump for joy.

Christmas gifts for cyclists Silca Asymmetrico Tool Roll

Christmas gifts for cyclists Silca Asymmetrico Tool Roll

Silca Roll Assymetrico tool roll

We could get 10 good Christmas Gifts for cyclists out of the Silca catalogue alone.

Velcro tool rolls can rattle around. Silca uses a Boa closure, like the ones you get on your snowboard boots. It also opens up nicely so you can see all the lovely tools you’ve got with you.

It’s just a very nice thing, that does away with the usual Millet’s styling, and gives you something nice to carry a tube and a multitool in.

Wahoo Fitness’s Elemnt Roam

Wahoo Fitness’s Elemnt Roam

Wahoo Elemnt Roam

Wahoo did us a solid when this came out.

Not because it was cheaper than a Garmin but because no one else had solved battery problems till they did. It was less fancy on the spec’ list but did more of what we wanted it to, and as such it’s quickly became our favourite.

And still is.

This newer version is awesome and it’s good value too.

Gun Control Custom Paint snapback cap

This one is our new hat from the guys next door at Gun Control.

Designed and made for us from scratch, with our fabric specs, 3d embroidered over French Worker Blue it’s a quality cap and it’s exclusive to us.

James Worton designed the Gun Control Custom Paint logo, and if you’re familiar with his work, you’ll know there’s no happier place for his typography than a snapback cap.

As snapbacks go, this is top quality and looks rad.

Silca Maratona Gear Bag

Silca Maratona Gear Bag

Silca Maratona Gear Bag

Silca make some awesome stuff. It’s the sort of stuff you can buy the cyclist who already has everything else.

Their carry-on size day bag/rucksack is great kit. The Silca Maratona Gear bag is designed to fit on a plane, and carry most of what you might need for a weekend in Girona. Including a handy flap to fold out and sit on so you don’t get mud on the boot of the car.

When you’re not heading to Girona, you can use it for the office. Not that you go there anymore, but anyone else that knows the brand will instantly spot it on your back as you strut round Hoxton and instantly assume you ride a Colnago when you’re not commuting to work.

The Wolftooth 8-Bit, surely the best multi-tool for preorder this Christmas

The Wolftooth 8-Bit, surely the best multi-tool for preorder this Christmas

Wolftooth 8-bit 17 function multi-tool

This is out and out the best thing on this list. It’s only available on pre-order though.

We’re expecting them to land on the 15th, before Christmas.

But bear in mind, they might not be on time (we don’t want to ruin anyone’s Christmas).

If they do land, you’ll have the best Christmas ever, and if they don’t, you’ll have something to look forward to in January when everyone else is fed up.

Why are we excited about it? Well, Wolf Tooth make sick stuff anyway. But this new tool combines two or three of their best products into one.

It’s got a master link plier, and quick link holder, to add your own quick link. The bar allows massive torque for a hand held tool, and the 8mm is rated up to 40nm. There’s a tap for unclogging tubeless valves, a valve core remover, spoke key and mix of torx and hex, which presumably you could add to if you needed to swap one or more out. It closes magnetically, and the best bit… it’s all held together with a spare chain ring bolt.

Inspector Gadget can’t fix this much stuff. McGyver would carry this tool. And just look at it.

The WyndyMilla Yard Sale for 40% off technical kit

This is a little different, as it’s a recommendation on a whole site full of stuff, but WyndyMilla our sister brand is having a Yard Sale throughout December to make way for new stock.

All their ‘own brand’ kit is manufactured in Italy, to their design and it’s quality gear. There’s even a few Assos bits in there still, and it all needs to go.

All the technical kit in the webstore is being cleared out. With up to 50% off everything (excluding teemill products), and then we’re giving 10% of all December online checkout sales going to Crisis at Christmas too.  Here and on their site.

There’s some odd sizes, but you’d expect that from a yard sale. And to help, there’s a new widget for the webstore so you can filter by size now too. Have a rummage around and see what you can find. Whatever you spend there, we’ll give 10% to charity from online sales in December.

ENVE’s 45 or 65 Foundation Wheelset

ENVE’s 45 or 65 Foundation Wheelset

Enve 45/65 Foundation wheelsets

Enve wheels are very expensive. These are Enve wheels, but cheaper. We like that as it brings the brand in range for more of our customers. We also like that they’ve got DT style hub internals, without any preload adjustments needed, ever.

And, and this is really why they made the list… if you break them, or damage them, Enve will just replace them.

A bullet proof warranty might have felt like the least they could do given what they charge for the SES product but with this range of wheels, at this price point, the warranty alone makes these an absolute bargain.

If you want a decent set of big brand carbon wheels backed by a ridiculous warranty, these are the wheels you want.
