Spoon Customs Izoard RR demo weekend plans
We don’t just design bikes, we want to inspire you to ride more. Sharing our ‘home town’, Montgenevre in the Alps, is therefore a big part of what we do. We’re based at the top of a Category 2 climb after all.
Last month, unofficially in conjunction with Snow.cab and Go-Montgenevre, we welcomed 10 guests to a top end chalet in Montgenevre 1860, for a long weekend of epic riding including ascents of Col D’Izoard (both ways), Col Agnel and Colle Sestriere.
The trip was a birthday celebration organised by us and Media Velo for Phil and the guys from AVC - an offshoot of Sky Velo. The group included guests from Zwift and Sky.
For me, it was a bit of a test to see if we could run really good trips out here, with the eventual aim of being able to host our customers in an alpine riding experience either on board one of our demo bikes or to take their first ride on their own Spoon Customs machine.
The weekend was intense; driving, hosting, cooking and keeping an eye on the routes and rides. We supported a couple of rides too from the Spoon Wagon and Ben and I even got some riding and shooting in ourselves. In fact, I got the first email notifying me that the Izoard RR review was positive, whilst riding the very same bike, on the hill that gives it it’s name. That was a very odd but wonderful moment, as you might imagine.
We had a demo bike on display all weekend and we got some really lovely feedback from the guys who, like many performance orientated groups, have only really considered a carbon bike for this sort of riding.
Thanks to all the lads from AVC.
Thanks to Snow.cab and the Go Monty team and also to Precision Hydration, who sponsored us by providing some amazing hydration.
We are hoping to run our first official SC demo mission next Spring, immediately after the regular TPS Triathlon Pro Camp that I run with Nick Saunders of TPS. Guiding for the SC trip will likely be available from our friend Craig at Chainlynx, and we’ll have a little team on hand to drive you in and look after you. Some lovely beer, new kit from our suppliers and of course, some performance steel from Spoon Customs for you to test too. We'll think of some bat shit crazy stuff to do too, it's an SC trip after all.
If you’re interested in an alpine demo weekend aboard the Izoard RR, or on your regular ride, sign up to the newsletter via the quick sign up at the bottom of our website, and we’ll let you know dates and availability as soon as we can.
For guided trips any other time, either supported or under your own steam, Craig at Chainlynx Cycle Tours is a local expert and can look after you anytime during the cycling season.
